Praying Soldiers
1915, Cast bronze, oval uniface/incuse reverse, 31.4mm x 38mm, 9.8g, UNC, Ernsting WVZ 106a. Convex surface with high, multi-staged edging; the script and image are convex and raised above the surface.
On a small, bulging grass covered landform stands a crucifix with the body of Christ. Above his head with halo is a tablet with raised script reading INRI. On each side of the crucifix are a group of three soldiers dressed in field uniforms with packs and helmets. The front soldier on each side has fallen to their knees and raised their hands in prayer.
